Genre: Drama, Romance(?)
Rating: PG-13 (for language and theme, I guess.)
Summary: Sometimes things could go wrong on the job.
Note: I feel so guilty writing for another pair on this day. But that proves how Junba trash I am. Anyway I got the idea from a prompt my friend and I talked about, and of course the Je L'aime cm. This whole thing is random and unbeta'd so please excuse any mistakes. I suck.
"Hang in there, MatsuJun," Masaki said, his voice shaking as sirens blared, "We're almost there..." he swallowed the lump in his throat as he guided his partner along the corridor of the museum. There were tears in his eyes, and he felt some of them roll down as he listened to Jun's ragged breathing near his ear.
"You should've... gone after her... that bitch!" said Jun between breaths, clutching onto Masaki's blue jacket, "Just leave me here - I'll be fine!"
"Shut up, I'm not leaving you!" Masaki's voice cracked. This silenced the younger male. It was rare for him to raise his voice like that, especially to him. "She's not worth it, that damn painting isn't worth it!"
"She's slipped through our fingers twice now..."
He saw the back door as they turned a corner, which relieved him somehow. "That doesn't matter." Masaki mumbled.Their car was right outside; there's a first-aid kit in the compartment, right next to the museum's layout, as he remembered.
Jun hissed in pain when he accidentally bumped into the wall. Masaki walked towards the center, focusing more on Jun's side of the corridor. "At least try not to put more pain on me, Masaki,"
Ignoring Jun's further remarks, Masaki sighed in relief when they finally reached the door; he pushed it open, the open parking lot coming into view. He was about to take another step when his partner stopped him, telling him he can't walk anymore, so Masaki carefully sat Jun down on the ground, who immediately removed his hand from the bullet wound on his stomach, and then coughing a few times.
The sight hurt Masaki, so he tore his eyes away from his partner and instead went to their car, grabbed the first-aid kit and went back.
"You're blaming yourself, aren't you?" Jun's voice filled the air. He had his eyes closed.
"If I wasn't so distracted you wouldn't have had to save me..." Masaki sat in front of him, placing the kit on his lap and opening it. "It should have been m—"
"Don't. It was my choice. I wanted to save you," said Jun, opening his eyes to look at him. "You would've done the same."
"Of course. You're important to me, Jun," he replied, "And no painting is worth losing either of us. Alright?"
They both stared at each other for a moment before Masaki began treating his wound, telling Jun that he's just going to try and stop the bleeding until they get to a hospital. There were moments when Jun would hiss in pain, when his grip on Masaki's arm would tighten, and when he'd bury his face on the older male's shoulder. After a while, though, Masaki managed to somehow stop the bleeding by cleaning and covering up the wound.
"Thanks," Jun said, letting go of the male's arm. Masaki's face broke into a smile. "It's a good thing you were wearing a red jacket,"
"That girl ruined a perfectly good jacket, mind you." They both chuckled at this, then fell silent, with Jun staring out of the lot. "We should go with new colors, what do you think?"
Masaki furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, crawling to Jun's side and leaning his back against the wall as well. "New colors?"
"Yeah. I'll go with purple; you'll go with green."
"I suggested that two years ago - and you found it tacky!"
Jun glanced down at his bandage, then at Masaki. "Hey, I almost died back there, I need a fresh start. Be it with tacky colors or not." he slowly stood up, waving a hand at Masaki to show that he was fine when the male tried to assist him.
Cold wind blew, and soon the sound of sirens can be heard again, this time moving towards the building they were at. Jun took a few steps forward then looked over his shoulder at Masaki before saying: "Shall we?"
