Title: The Right Moment
Author: [livejournal.com profile] nidesux
Length: Oneshot
Pairing: Jun x Masaki a.k.a Junba a.k.a my not-so-denial ship.
Genre: Fluff, some angst here and there, and tiny bits of comedy.
Rating: PG-13 for language.
Summary: Small series of "waiting too long 'till the last moment". Different times, different universes, same fucked up decision that can only be broken by Matsumoto Jun.
Note: NOW. I've writen tons of random trash here, but this has got to be the most random out of everything. I hope no one is confused with this, though. But to make things clear: the first part is from Kiiroi Namida, second part is from Shinjuku Boy Detectives (That Junba action movie from 1998) and the third part is... well, just made up. Even so, everything that's in here is pure fiction. I did make a few changes here and there, meaning it's not as accurate as it was on film or anything. Hence the term... fanfiction. Thanks for reading! ><

Shoichi-san, Sosuke = Aiba
Yuji, Kentaro = Jun.
Other mentioned characters aren't so important (sorrynotsorry)
Out of the four, he's closest with Shoichi-san.

Shoichi-san, the person he notices and greets first whenever they meet by chance. Shoichi-san who's always been so nice to him. Shoichi-san, who he heard singing one summer day when he was out making a delivery---that being their first encounter.

It's not that he likes him how a man would like a girl---is that even possible? he once asked himself---but he knows that he admires the man a lot and wants to spend every second with him; whether it be just him watching the other play random chords on his guitar and voice out random, sometimes lewd---just for the laughs, of course---lyrics. It always made him laugh.

Yuji even thought to himself sometimes, that he would have been a part of Shoichi-san's circle if he wasn't so busy all the time. But life is hard, and he needs to survive by working hard.

Besides, if what he felt for Shoichi-san is what he thought it was, it's obvious that he'd be shut down... be judged for feeling that way.

So for now, he'll greet him as always; ask him how his writing has been going, and part ways with him to go back to what they were doing in the first place.

"Hey, Yuu-chan, have you ever had sex before?" he almost choked on his drink when those words came out of the older male's lips. Once he collected himself, he placed the glass of water down, then opened his mouth to answer; only to close it again and answer with a shake of his head.

"...It's a bit boring, to be honest," Shoichi-san said, finally. The two male sat in silence, and a good five minutes later, the other excused himself---said he'll go for a game of pachinko before heading home. Yuji flashed a grin, saying he needs to finish deliveries as well, and that he hopes for Shoichi-san to sing a new song for him someday.

He expected the singer to get married with Tokie-chan---to hear the news from someone one day, but the only thing he heard was that Shoichi-san left, along with his other friends. He wasn't bothered about it much, but hearing the news made his heart ache a little bit. Yuji managed, though. He needed to.

He was just disappointed that he didn't get to hear a new song from Shoichi-san... to at least hear it in personal, not by listening to the radio. In the end, though, instead of Shoichi-san marrying Tokie-chan... he did. And they were happy.

The thought of him having those kind of feelings for his wife's first love bothered him still, though. It always will. And he sometimes wondered if things would be different if one of them was female... or if Shoichi-san was more open to relationships instead of just making money. Then again, everyone needs to work in order to survive.

And maybe---just maybe---it wasn't the right moment.

Yuji realized that the same time he realized that perhaps what he felt for the man was more than just admiration.

He's always been drawn to him, which is why he tries his best to distance himself from him.

Easier said than done, though, Especially since the person he's distancing himself from basically clings onto him whenever they meet... by coincidence.

Kentaro would always tell him that he's too busy to hang out. But even so, at the end, they'd still hang out at the nearby playground. And no matter how much he tries to deny it, he feels at ease whenever they do hang out. He'd momentarily forget about the new game he's supposed to test out later on.

Of course, Sosuke doesn't know about his feelings (As if he'd let him know and jeopardize whatever it is they have just like that) It even came to the point where Kentaro was dubbed as "aloof" by the male for being so cold to him.

Besides, things change. Of course his feelings will eventually. He just needs to wait. So for now, he'll continue trying to be distant.

Again, it's easier said than done, when the person he's trying to distance himself from is waiting for him outside, in the cold, while he takes his entrance exam inside. He couldn't even focus on the questions anymore since he kept glancing out the window whenever the teacher was out of sight. Sure, Sosuke was wearing thick clothing, but it was still no match for the cold.

Kentaro gripped on his pen tight as he did his best not to look out of the window again (he had already been caught twice), but it was no use. The next thing he knew, he was talking to the teacher, pretending to be having a stomachache just to get him to take the exam again another day, and then sprinting out of the building, into the cold. To Sosuke.

"You're gonna catch a cold, you idiot," he said, standing in front of the male who was using cardboard as some sort of blanket for him and his scooter. Sosuke looked up at him, causing him to take a step back as his heart beat quickened.

"Is it done?"

"Not yet," he replied, removing the cardboard and then leaving with Sosuke. He's more than glad that the male didn't ask any further.

He just needs to wait, he kept telling himself. Wait for the feelings to disappear. It was difficult though---very difficult.

It was even more difficult when Sosuke started dating Mika. Kentaro almost choked on his noodles when he was told the news by the male. And as he walked home by himself (because Sosuke's going to meet up with Mika, his girlfriend), he realized that, famous or not, he never really liked her; that he was just playing along when he and Sosuke first met Mika because it's expected for a guy like him to have that kind of reaction when meeting someone famous. Especially a girl.

Kentaro looked up at the night sky when it started to drizzle; he held out his hand, feeling the rain drops on his palm. He stayed there for a few minutes, and finally, after taking a deep breath, he continued walking.

As he walked, he thought to himself that waiting for the right moment sure sucks. To think that he was so close to accepting and telling Sosuke about his feelings...

Or maybe the right moment was already there, he just didn't know it. He would have done something if he knew that Mika was bound to end up as Sosuke's girlfriend.

Or maybe---maybe---he's the one who's an idiot, not Sosuke.

"Excuse me," Jun kept saying as he moved through the huge crowd at the airport. It was almost Christmas after all, and lots of tourists from around the world have been arriving more and more as the days pass.

His heart kept pounding against his chest as he glanced over at his watch every now and then, hoping that Masaki's plane hasn't left yet. Jun has only ten minutes left or else he's screwed.

If only he didn't wait for the right moment to tell him how he felt, things would have been different.

Idiot, he kept saying to himself. You're an idiot.

"Aiba-san!" he called out once he reached the gate. Masaki was almost inside when he called out. He felt relieved even though he barely made it. Jun beckoned to him, and seconds later Masaki was there, in front of him, suitcase in hand, asking him what was wrong that he had to come all the way to the airport.

Jun opened his mouth, only to close it again. But when Masaki started to look worried, he opened his mouth again, "I... I have feelings for you. I've had feelings for you for so long now, Masaki," he paused for a second. "I shouldn't have waited for the right moment. Waiting for the right moment fucks everything up."

"What I'm trying to say is that... don't go... But if you really want to go, I can just go with you. I'll take the next plane to America," Another pause. "No- wait, you haven't even responded to my confession... so if you're not rejecting me, I'll take the next plane to America. But then again I have to get my paperwork done if I'm going to stay with you..."

"Jun, calm down," Masaki placed a hand on his shoulder. He was obviously trying his best not to die laughing right then and there. It scared Jun. Is he trying not to laugh at how stupid my confession is?

"I'm only going to America for a week because of our department's project. Didn't Nino tell you?" Masaki was laughing now, and all Jun could do was grin to hide the embarrassment. "I'll be back. Promise. You got to me just in time. I was thinking of going out with lots of American women there."

"I..." Jun trailed off, furrowing his eyebrows. "Don't tease me like that, Aiba!"

In the end though, he thought to himself: The right moment doesn't really exist, waiting (too long) sucks, and the plane won't wait too long for passengers just because of an "airport confession".

But the good thing is, he and Masaki are together as they wait for the next flight to America. Four hours isn't too bad.

Ahahaha I loved that ending so much! Aiba teasing him like that, poking fun at airport confessions a little. The sincerity of Jun's feelings. So great! ♥

aaahh... the first two stories T_T (and you were the one who planted those pairings in my head. :))

I'm glad that for the last story, Jun didn't wait for the "right moment". There's no right moment! The right moment would be the present! Ahhhhhhh... and Jun being the one doing the confessing and acting so jumpy instead of Aiba is so cute! They're both so cute yo!

Thanks for this!

Oh? I feel oddly proud of myself knowing that. Haha! (Ahhh. Junba on Kiiroi Namida. I'll never forget it ;A;)

He finally realized that the right moment is right now! Yeessss, it's rare to see Jun like that! Extra cute points tbh. Lol.

Thank you for reading!
