It was past ten in the morning when Masaki got to his friend's house. He knocked on the door and was greeted by a half-awake Kazunari, glaring up at him. The man asked him why he was there, following behind him as the taller male invited himself in and sat down on the couch. There he asked Kazunari to come with him for some "gift-hunting". A sigh came from Kazunari before he got up, muttering that he'll be back in ten minutes before leaving the room.
As promised, the man came back ten minutes later, all ready to go. Masaki beamed at his friend then got up from the couch, leaving the apartment together. Though going out with Kazunari can only mean one thing: he'll ask questions.
"Whose birthday is it?" asked Kazunari the moment they got to the mall. There was a speaker blasting loud music near the entrance and Masaki used that as a reason not to answer, pretending he didn't hear. But his friend kept asking, so he eventually gave in and answered that it was Jun.
"Whoa, you two are going to—"
"Yes. We're going to meet." Masaki replied as they entered a bookstore. Kazunari was smirking at him now, and he looked at anywhere except his friend. He felt his cheeks heat up as they walked through aisles of books. And in a lower tone of voice, Kazunari asked why he had to come along. Masaki looked at him, then said with a slight frown that he had been distant over the past few days.
"I'm not," Kazunari said. "What do you mean?"
"You've been rejecting my invites to go hang out, and you haven't been replying much!" he had to look around when he realized that he raised his voice a little, then continued, "Even Jun thinks it's weird."
"So J misses me too, huh," Kazunari smirked at him. Masaki rolled his eyes at his friend then walked a few steps ahead to look through the titles of suspense books, thinking of getting one for Jun. He then told Kazunari that Jun thinks that he's dating, and his friend's silence shocked him.
"Don't tell me..." Masaki had a grin on his face now. "You and Ohno-san?"
"No!" his friend snarled, "Ohno is straight, Masaki. What the hell?"
"Oh shit. Shit. I'm sorry." his grin turned into an awkward smile, a blush creeping on his cheeks as he turned away and resumed looking through the books. "Then who are you dating?"
"Sho."
"What?!" There were a few people who looked at them. He cleared his throat before continuing, in a lower tone. "How? When?"
"A few weeks ago? The two of us went out because you, Nana-chan and Ken-chan weren't available. After that, we started to hang out more... and... yeah." Kazunari shifted his eyes from Masaki then picked up a book, looking through its pages though it was obvious he wasn't really interested in it. The both of them stayed quiet as they stayed in the suspense section of the bookstore. Thankfully, not that much people were there reading books as they were, so Masaki went through a few books he found interesting enough, trying to pick one to buy.

In the end Masaki bought two books he found interesting and hope Jun would like reading. Then they made their way to the fifth floor of the building: to a record shop. Not just any record shop, but a shop that sells vintage records. Masaki was scrolling through his phone, trying to locate where the shop was located. It took a few minutes for them to get there, and the moment they got inside, there was a familiar Beatles song playing. He immediately thought of the short audio-slash-video Jun sent him last night, making a smile crept on his face.
"What are we supposed to buy here?" asked Kazunari as he followed behind his friend. Masaki was busy looking around for anything Beatles related that he'd assumed Jun still doesnt have. Albums are scratched out from his list, so he's left with picking between T-shirts and other merchandise. He told Kazunari that Jun likes The Beatles, to which the other just sniggered at then resumed looking through LP records of different bands. Masaki on the other hand, went around the shop to look for more, and soon found a set—the last set, as one of the employees told him after—of Beatles badges. The price made his heart sink though. 12,000 yen for a set of small badges is a lot.
"Ne, Nino; can you pay for half of this?" Masaki tapped on his friend's shoulder then showed him the set of badges. Kazunari asked him how much it was, then gawked at him when he replied. The both of them started bickering over the badges, causing the other employees and a few customers to look their way, and chuckle. Then a thought came to Masaki, and though he thought it's mean, he still did it.
"You and Sho do know that two teachers dating isn't allowed? That being found out can mean you both could lose your jobs?" The look Kazunari gave him could make someone run away. But he knew his best friend too well, so he stayed put. His friend then looked away, sighing before muttering the word "yes" and then dropping six thousand yen on the palm of his hand. He hugged Kazunari tightly, only for him to be pushed away; he then scurried off to the counter to pay for the set.
"I. Can't. Fucking. Believe. You. Just. Did. That." Kazunari said through gritted teeth as they walked out of the record shop. Masaki was smiling, feeling rather proud of himself. "Seriously. Why would you pay 12,000 yen for a set of small badges for someone you haven't even met?"
"Jun-kun is nice to me! And we are going to meet!"
"It makes it more obvious that you have feelings for him," Kazunari smirked. And he merely laughed, sarcastically saying that he had missed Kazunari's teasing. The smirk vanished from Kazunari's face, turning serious.
"You've been pretty obvious from the start, you idiot."
"Stop teasing me!" said Masaki. "And if I do have any feelings for him—and yes, the kind you're thinking of—it's just impossible for him to return them, right? It's not like we're in a drama or those fanfictions some of my students read during class, so stop!" And with the look he gave Kazunari, the conversation was over. They both ate and went to different shops to pass time before going back to Kazunari's. Masaki didn't stay long and went home right away. It was obvious that the man was pondering about something, the reason was obvious too, but Kazunari didn't ask further or say anything further about Jun.

Kazunari shifted his eyes from Masaki then picked up a book, looking through its pages though it was obvious he wasn't really interested in it. The both of them stayed quiet as they stayed in the suspense section of the bookstore. Thankfully, not that much people were there reading books as they were, so Masaki went through a few books he found interesting enough, trying to pick one to buy.

In the end Masaki bought two books he found interesting and hope Jun would like reading. Then they made their way to the fifth floor of the building: to a record shop. Not just any record shop, but a shop that sells vintage records. Masaki was scrolling through his phone, trying to locate where the shop was located. It took a few minutes for them to get there, and the moment they got inside, there was a familiar Beatles song playing. He immediately thought of the short audio-slash-video Jun sent him last night, making a smile crept on his face.
"What are we supposed to buy here?" asked Kazunari as he followed behind his friend. Masaki was busy looking around for anything Beatles related that he'd assumed Jun still doesnt have. Albums are scratched out from his list, so he's left with picking between T-shirts and other merchandise. He told Kazunari that Jun likes The Beatles, to which the other just sniggered at then resumed looking through LP records of different bands. Masaki on the other hand, went around the shop to look for more, and soon found a set—the last set, as one of the employees told him after—of Beatles badges. The price made his heart sink though. 12,000 yen for a set of small badges is a lot.
"Ne, Nino; can you pay for half of this?" Masaki tapped on his friend's shoulder then showed him the set of badges. Kazunari asked him how much it was, then gawked at him when he replied. The both of them started bickering over the badges, causing the other employees and a few customers to look their way, and chuckle. Then a thought came to Masaki, and though he thought it's mean, he still did it.
"You and Sho do know that two teachers dating isn't allowed? That being found out can mean you both could lose your jobs?" The look Kazunari gave him could make someone run away. But he knew his best friend too well, so he stayed put. His friend then looked away, sighing before muttering the word "yes" and then dropping six thousand yen on the palm of his hand. He hugged Kazunari tightly, only for him to be pushed away; he then scurried off to the counter to pay for the set.
"I. Can't. Fucking. Believe. You. Just. Did. That." Kazunari said through gritted teeth as they walked out of the record shop. Masaki was smiling, feeling rather proud of himself. "Seriously. Why would you pay 12,000 yen for a set of small badges for someone you haven't even met?"
"Jun-kun is nice to me! And we are going to meet!"
"It makes it more obvious that you have feelings for him," Kazunari smirked. And he merely laughed, sarcastically saying that he had missed Kazunari's teasing. The smirk vanished from Kazunari's face, turning serious.
"You've been pretty obvious from the start, you idiot."
"Stop teasing me!" said Masaki. "And if I do have any feelings for him—and yes, the kind you're thinking of—it's just impossible for him to return them, right? It's not like we're in a drama or those fanfictions some of my students read during class, so stop!" And with the look he gave Kazunari, the conversation was over. They both ate and went to different shops to pass time before going back to Kazunari's. Masaki didn't stay long and went home right away. It was obvious that the man was pondering about something, the reason was obvious too, but Kazunari didn't ask further or say anything further about Jun.
